Boy Scout Troops to Clean Up Trash on Lakewood Blvd.
Lakewood Boulevard will be the site of a large cleanup effort Saturday as part of the Adopt-a-Highway Project. Boy Scout troops 1, 2, 307, 406, 433, 441, 709, 813, 868 and 895 will start the cleanup at 8 a.m. at the park-and-ride lot at Lakewood Boulevard and the Santa Ana Freeway.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. A safety training course will be presented from 8:45 to 9 a.m. As required by Caltrans and Keep Downey Beautiful, all volunteers must attend the safety course. Cleanup assignments will be handed out at 9:15 a.m. and the actual cleanup will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Equipment will be provided by Caltrans.
