Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Man, 72
A 72-year-old Sylmar man was killed by a hit-and-run driver as he crossed a street in San Fernando early Monday morning, San Fernando police said.
Lloyd W. Hurlimann was crossing Hubbard Street near 2nd Street when he was hit by a red pickup truck traveling south, Sgt. Michael Harvey said.
The driver of the truck fled but Javier Ochoa, 22, of Sylmar later called police to say he had been involved in the accident, Harvey said. Ochoa was arrested at his residence without incident, Harvey said, and was being held in lieu of $5,000 bail on suspicion of manslaughter and felony hit-and-run driving.
