PRO FOOTBALL REPORT WEEKDAY UPDATE : RAIDERS : Players Appreciate Crowd
Think the Raiders weren’t happy to see more than 80,000 fans show up for Sunday’s game at the Coliseum? “We had the home-field advantage with 80,000 screaming fans,” Jerry Robinson said. “I thought I was dreaming. Then I got knocked in the head and said, ‘It’s for real . . . ‘ “
The Raiders activated cornerback Dennis Price (shoulder) and wide receiver Mike Alexander (hamstring) and moved both players to the new practice squad established by NFL owners last week. In addition, rookie running back Marcus Wilson was signed and added to the squad. Wilson, a sixth-round draft choice, will be used both as a runner and defensive back, Coach Art Shell said.
Shell said a decision on whether to activate Price or Alexander to the 47-man roster could be made later this week.
Mike Wise’s ankle sprain has forced Shell to experiment with Tim Rother as a defensive lineman again. Rother was a defensive tackle at Nebraska who was converted to offensive tackle after the Raiders drafted him in the fourth round of 1988.
