Dinner Guests Will Have a Vine Time

Two California central coast wineries--Maison Deutz and Meridian Vineyards--will share the spotlight at a winemaker dinner Tuesday, Oct. 9, at John Dominis in Newport Beach. Food and wine match-ups include rare seared Hawaiian red tuna and a lobster spinach flan, served with 1988 Edna Valley Chardonnay. Tim Hanni, of Meridian Winery, one of only two Americans to successfully complete the Master of Wine exam in London, will discuss the wines. Reception begins at 7 p.m., dinner at 7:30. The Robert Mondavi Wine & Food Center will present a Baroque Dinner Concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5. Dinner delicacies include Italian fall white truffle manicotti with ricotta cheese and tarragon cream sauce, and red currant marinated loin of lamb with sweet corn souffle and rosemary polenta. The chamber performance, conducted by Keith Clark, includes music of Bach, Vivaldi, Handel. Dinner and concert: $100. Reservations: (714) 979-4510.
