Fire Kills 4 at Building for Elderly in Detroit
Associated Press
DETROIT —
Fire swept through a four-story apartment building for the elderly, killing four people and injuring dozens of others, some of whom jumped from windows because the building lacked fire escapes.
The body of a fifth person, who apparently had died in his apartment a few days earlier of a heart attack, was found in the smoking ruins.
Police and fire officials said they were not sure what had caused the fire Thursday night.
