Fullerton Confronts Impressive Offense of Nevada Las Vegas
Cal State Fullerton will attempt to end a four-game losing streak when it plays Nevada Las Vegas tonight at 7 in a Big West Conference game.
The Titans (1-4) are coming off a 38-3 defeat by Fresno State in which they lost their best defensive player, linebacker Clarence Siler, with knee and ankle injuries. Fullerton, playing its fifth consecutive road game, is led by quarterback Paul Schulte, who has completed 61 of 127 passes for 991 yards and four touchdowns.
The Rebels (2-3), under first-year Coach Jim Strong, have an explosive option offense directed by quarterback Derek Stott. UNLV gained 628 yards in last week’s 38-29 victory over Pacific. But the Rebels have had trouble on defense, allowing an average of 32.6 points and 445.2 yards a game.
