PRO FOOTBALL REPORT : WEEKDAY UPDATE : RAIDERS : Wilkerson Back From Knee Surgery
Right tackle Bruce Wilkerson will return to practice this week after spending the first five weeks on injured reserve following late-summer knee surgery.
Raider Coach Art Shell said Wilkerson may not be as ready as he thinks.
“I know what Bruce is going through right now because I had the same thing he had,” Shell said. “He’s willing to work, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s ready to play. . . . I remember the first time I had it. I came back. I was ready, too. I lined up in practice and fell flat on my face coming off the ball.”
The countdown to Bo Jackson continues. Will he show up this week or next? “I’d say he’d be in within the next eight days,” Shell said. Shell said there is no target for Jackson’s first appearance.
