A parade featuring high school bands, classic cars and equestrian groups will highlight this year’s Heritage Days Festival opening today.

The 26th annual event, celebrating “Many Cultures, One City,” will be held at two parks in Placentia, with free shuttle service offered via the city’s new trolley.

A pancake breakfast sponsored by the Placentia Chamber of Commerce will be held from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Kraemer Park, 201 N. Bradford Ave.

The parade, with Grand Marshal Roger Rabbit, starts at 10 a.m. at Kraemer Boulevard and Madison Avenue. The parade will proceed west on Madison to Bradford Avenue, and then turn south on Bradford Avenue until it reaches Kraemer Park. The parade should end about 11:30 a.m.

Festivities at Kraemer Park, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will include an antique car show, food and game booths and a raffle in which participants can enter by bringing aluminum cans for recycling.

The antique car show will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Mayor Norman Z. Eckenrode will hold a reception from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Backs Community Building.

Other events will be held during the day at Bradford Park, 136 Palm Circle, the site of the historic Bradford House. There, the “Country Fair on the Green” will include craft shows, food booths, live entertainment and a flea market.
