Leonard Dropped as HBO Analyst

Sugar Ray Leonard and HBO ended a 10-year relationship Monday when the cable network said it will not renew Leonard’s announcing contract.
Leonard appeared as a fighter 11 times since 1978 on HBO boxing telecasts and had been part of its announcing team for 10 years. HBO said the move came after Leonard’s attorney/manager, Mike Trainer, did not offer HBO an opportunity to bid on Leonard’s next fight.
HBO also said Leonard will not be replaced on its boxing broadcast team, which includes Larry Merchant and Jim Lampley.
