How to get there: Although most major airlines fly to New Orleans, Southwest Airlines is offering an economical fare of $218 round trip, with only a one-day advance purchase necessary. This is the same low fare usually offered as a 22-day advance purchase. Call Southwest at (213) 485-1221.

Halloween tours and events: Friends of the Cabildo’s “Ghostly Galavant Through the French Quarter” takes place next Sunday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Price: $25 per person or $22.50 per person for groups of 10 or more. Contact The Friends of the Cabildo for reservations: (504) 523-3939.

“Save Our Cemeteries” offers one-hour tours of atmospheric Lafayette Cemetery on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Meeting spot is Washington Gate in the 1400 block of Washington Avenue. Cost $5 per person.

“The Haunted Dungeon of Musee Conti” is a well-known wax museum filled with spooky Louisiana legends. Along with local horrors such as Marie Laveau’s voodoo slaves, the casket girls and Napoleon himself, the museum has added the likes of Dracula, Frankenstein and the Hunchback of Notre Dame for Halloween chills. Call (504) 525-2605. Musee Conti is at 917 Conti St., and is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
