Renowned Canon to Preach Monday at St. Paul’s

In recognition of the Episcopal Church’s designation of 1990 as the Year of Evangelism, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1221 Wass, Tustin, will host Canon Bryan Green, British evangelist, for a preaching mission at 7 p.m. on Monday .

For more than two generations, Green has been “Greening” the Anglican Church around the world. Recently, the Anglican Episcopal Institute of Mission and Evangelism recognized Green with its first award for his work with the U.S. church.

Born in 1901, Green has been an evangelist since the age of 17. A native of the United Kingdom, he was ordained a priest of the Church of England in 1925. Since that time, he has traveled throughout Great Britain, speaking to young people and conducting evangelical missions. At age 89, he still keeps up a heavy speaking schedule.

Green will discuss one of his books, “Saints Alive,” which focuses on what a saint is and how a saint can bear witness to the Gospela of Christ. After his talk in the church, there will be a reception in the parish Hall. For information, call (714) 544-3141.

Boutiques boasting handcrafted jewelry, Christmas decorations, tole painting, woodworked toys, ceramics, pottery and other wares will be displayed at the 16th annual Celebration of Talents on the grounds of Grace Lutheran Church Huntington Beach, 6931 Edinger Ave., today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Scandinavian pastries, lunch foods, gourmet Lutheran coffee and soft drinks will be served while music and dance groups entertain throughout the day. A special gallery exhibit will feature handcrafted quilts, needlework, fine art and other crafts and demonstrations. Songwriter and performer Marty Goetz will present a concert at the Adat HeMashiach Messianic Congregation, 1701 Armstrong, Irvine, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Marty, who was raised in a conservative Jewish home in Cleveland, came to know Yeshua (the Hebrew name of Jesus) while pursuing a musical career in Los Angeles. There is no admission charge. However, an offering will be taken. Child care will not be provided. For information, call (714) 786-8261.

Holy Family Cathedral’s Adult Choir, with orchestra, directed by Matthew Gray will present an All-Souls Day special performance of the Faure Requiem on Friday at 8 p.m. at the Holy Family Cathedral, 566 S.
