Pierce 12, West Los Angeles 7--Pierce broke a two-game skid and handed West Los Angeles its fourth consecutive defeat, but the Brahmas once again lost tailback LaShante Parker to injury in a game at Pierce.

Parker, who missed 1 1/2 games because of a sprained ankle, returned to gain 184 yards in 31 carries against the WSC’s top team against the rush, but he reinjured the ankle early in the fourth period and did not return.

Pierce (3-4, 3-3) led, 6-0, at intermission, but West L. A. (3-4, 2-4) took the lead early in the fourth quarter on Myron Phillips’ two-yard touchdown run.

Pierce retook the lead with 7:45 to play after a 33-yard gain by Pat Brown put the Brahmas at the West L. A. 31. On the next play, quarterback Jamie Grossman tossed a pass in the flat to running back Arie McQuaig, who cut back inside and went 31 yards for the winning touchdown.

Defensive back Pete Pistone, whose two punts kept West L. A. deep in its own end in the fourth period, intercepted a a Chris McCloud pass with slightly more than a minute to play to seal the Oilers’ fate.

Grossman, who threw four interceptions last week against Southwest, completed three of 12 for 48 yards with no interceptions.
