Imperial Beach Woman Slain; Sailor Held
A Navy man was arrested Sunday in connection with the shooting death of an 18-year-old Imperial Beach woman, authorities reported.
Lisa Marie Norton, 18, who resided in the 900 block of 10th Street, was pronounced dead at the scene, a Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman said.
Andrew Kevin Valvardi, 24, who lives in the 1300 block of Ira Street in Imperial Beach, was being held without bail in the San Diego County Jail on suspicion of murder. The suspect also allegedly shot at a witness, authorities said.
Deputies staking out Valvardi’s home Sunday arrested him without incident.
The witness heard screams and several shots shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday and saw Norton running away from a gunman before she was shot in the 1300 block of 15th Street near Grove Avenue, the spokeswoman said.
The witness yelled at the gunman who fired two shots at him and fled in a pickup truck, the spokeswoman said. The witness, who was not hurt, ran into his residence and called authorities.
