Former Socker goalie Zoltan Toth, who during the summer signed as a free agent with the St. Louis Storm, today will undergo two surgical operations, one to repair torn cartilage in his right knee and the other to repair a ruptured disk in his neck.

Toth will be out four to six weeks, team physicians said.

The ruptured disk was diagnosed two weeks ago and the torn cartilage was suffered last week during practice.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Center Marty Dow returned to the San Diego State basketball team Monday after missing last week because of a groin injury.

Dow, a 7-foot-1 senior, averaged 12 points and six rebounds a game for SDSU last season and figures to start at center again for the Aztecs. He missed SDSU’s final eight games last season with a torn tendon in his foot.

“I’m feeling pretty good,” Dow said. “I didn’t feel any pain. My legs are a little out of shape from sitting out a week, but that’s something that will come back within a week.”

Freshman Joe McNaull has missed the last several days because of a hip flexor. Coach Jim Brandenburg said he expects McNaull back in three or four days.
