Payne Replaces Schulte as Titan Quarterback
Redshirt freshman Terry Payne will start at quarterback today when Cal State Fullerton plays Utah State at 1 p.m. in Santa Ana Stadium. Payne replaces senior starter Paul Schulte, who bruised ribs and a kidney in last week’s 44-6 loss to San Jose State.
The Titans (1-9) will attempt to end a nine-game losing streak against a 3-4-1 Aggie team that relies heavily on its running game. Junior running back Roger Grant, a former Butte College standout who was recruited by only two Division I schools, leads the Big West Conference in rushing with 118.9 yards per game.
