SANTA ANA : 3 Youths Shot at Carnival in Park

Share

An unidentified man fired several shots into a crowd at a weekend carnival in Jerome Park, seriously injuring three teen-agers, police said.

Sgt. Bob Ensley said the shooting followed an argument between two groups of youths Sunday night. Details of the shooting were still sketchy, but the incident does not appear to be gang-related, Ensley said.

During the argument, a youth left the park and returned with a pistol. He fired at least three shots into the crowd, Ensley said.

One victim was shot in the stomach, while the other two sustained gunshot wounds in the legs and hips. Police declined to identify the teen-agers because of their ages. They are all residents of Santa Ana.

They were treated at area hospitals and listed in fair condition.

“We are still trying to find out what the argument was about or who the gunman is,” Ensley said.
