COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fullerton Sets School Scoring Record in a 137-102 Tournament Victory

Fullerton College set a school single-game scoring record in defeating San Bernardino Valley, 137-102, in a first-round game of the Fullerton basketball tournament.

Pat O’Curren scored 18 points and Bob Terry had 17 to lead Fullerton (2-2), which had six players score in double-figures.

Gary Hunter and Ed Cross each scored 13 points, Gary Lira scored 12 and Ed Martinez scored 10 for Fullerton.

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Saddleback 63, Southwestern 55--Shannon Garnos had 17 points and Sharon Schimeneck had 10 points, 12 rebounds and six steals for host Saddleback (2-0).

In Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball:

Golden West 3, Saddleback 0--Tania Grasselli had 12 kills and four aces to lead visiting Golden West to a 15-7, 15-4, 15-10 victory. Kysha Green had 12 kills for Golden West (19-3, 12-0 in conference). Jody Narey had seven kills for Saddleback (6-9, 2-9).

Riverside 3, Orange Coast 2--Reiko Matsumoto had 26 kills and Jennifer Kurtz had seven blocks and eight kills for host Orange Coast (11-5, 8-3) which lost, 15-13, 16-18, 15-9, 10-15, 15-12.
