Co-high weights Little Brianne and Stylish Star will tangle in the second division of Saturday’s Grade II Dahlia Handicap, which was split into a pair of $75,000-added stakes Thursday when 18 fillies and mares were entered for the 1 1/16th-mile grass event at Hollywood Park.

Heading the first division, which will be contested as Saturday’s sixth race, are Bequest, unbeaten in two starts in this country, and Oeilladine. Each will carry 117 pounds.

This will mark the fifth time during its nine years that the Dahlia has been split. Stylish Star won the second division of the stake for trainer Dan Hendricks last year when it was divided.

Stylish Star, who will be ridden by Robbie Davis, has won a pair of sprint stakes on the grass at Santa Anita during the past year.

Little Brianne, who has won three turf stakes at as many tracks this year, will be handled by Julio Garcia. Hall of Famer Jack Van Berg trains the 5-year-old mare who has banked $621,833 during her career.

Wedding Bouquet, beaten favorite in the Osunitas Handicap at Del Mar in her last start in September, also figures to be well supported in the division that will serve as Saturday’s eighth race.

First division contender Oeilladine is coming off a victory in Oak Tree’s Lou Rowan Handicap. Chris McCarron takes over in the saddle for ailing Gary Stevens.
