El Camino 36, University City 10--Von Robinson rushed for 173 yards and three touchdowns in 19 carries and quarterback Noel Prefontaine threw a touchdown pass and kicked a field goal as El Camino (7-4) advanced to the second round. The Wildcats scored 29 of their points in the second and third quarters and outgained the Centurions (4-6) on the ground, 247-98. University City was held to 148 yards in total offense.

Escondido 26, Grossmont 10--Keith Williams rushed for two touchdowns to lead Escondido (6-5) to an upset of Grossmont (6-3-1). Escondido held a 13-10 lead entering the fourth quarter, but broke the game open on Williams’ 41-yard touchdown run. He later scored on a one-yard run. Escondido quarterback Jerry Singleton threw a 22-yard scoring pass and Lance Lawton scored on a one-yard run.

Kearny 45, Coronado 7--James Curtis rushed 10 times for 104 yards and Sam Page completed six of 10 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns to lead Kearny (9-1-1) at Mesa College. Chris Richmond (seven carries for 83 yards), Darnay Scott (two carries for 73 yards) and Donnell Davis (two carries for 75 yards) also contributed for Kearny. Coronado (5-6) was held to 134 yards total offense.

La Jolla 14, Lincoln 13--La Jolla scored the winning touchdown with 1:37 remaining on a nine-yard pass from Brian Hidalgo to E.J. Watson, followed by Eric Zadeyan’s extra-point kick. The score capped an 87-yard drive that started with 2:03 left and was keyed by a 56-yard pass from Hidalgo to Watson on the previous play. Marlon Scott scored both touchdowns for Lincoln.

Ramona 25, Madison 25--John Cappasola completed a touchdown pass to Todd Dick in the California tie breaker and John Welch converted the PAT to lead Ramona (6-5) to a victory over host Madison (6-5).

West Hills 31, Oceanside 16--West Hills won at home in its first playoff appearance to advance to second round next Saturday against La Jolla. The Wolf Pack, playing its first season with a senior class, improved to 9-2. Oceanside finished 4-5-1.
