Hearing Delayed for Fan in Assault Case
A preliminary hearing for the Los Angeles Raiders fan who allegedly attacked and seriously injured a Pittsburgh Steelers fan during a game between the two teams at the Coliseum on Sept. 23 was continued until Dec. 10 following a request by the defense attorney for more time.
Shane C. Geringer, 19, of Agoura Hills, has pleaded not guilty to one count each of assault with a deadly weapon and battery causing serious bodily injury, both felonies. Geringer’s attorney, Leslie Abramson, told Municipal Court Judge Alban Niles she needed time to study the medical records of the victim, Paul Albrecht, 35, of Tucson, Ariz., and to talk to witnesses.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Craig Veals had more than a dozen witnesses ready to testify.
