VENTURA : 4 Plead Not Guilty on Cocaine Charges

A Ventura hotelier and three Los Angeles County men pleaded not guilty Monday to charges that they sold two kilograms of cocaine to Ventura undercover officers last month.

Mario Waters, 31, general manager of the Harbortown Marina Resort Hotel in Ventura; Cesar Fernandez, 59, of Los Angeles; Henry Munoz, 36, of Van Nuys; and Alfonso Amaya, 34, of Los Angeles entered pleas at Ventura County Superior Court on one count each of conspiracy to possess for sale and to sell cocaine.

Waters had been negotiating with the undercover officers for several months to sell them cocaine, which he then obtained through Fernandez, Deputy Dist. Atty. Gregory Phillips said. Phillips said Munoz and Amaya delivered the cocaine and that Waters handed it to police at the Olivas Park Golf Course on Oct. 20.

If convicted, all the men face a maximum of eight years in prison, and Fernandez faces an additional three years because he was convicted in Los Angeles County of possessing one kilogram of cocaine for sale, Phillips said.

Their trial is scheduled to begin Dec. 31.
