COLLEGE FOOTBALL REPORT : WEEKDAY UPDATE : AROUND THE NATION : Colorado, Despite Record, Ranked No. 1
Colorado, despite having a loss, a tie and a disputed victory, is No. 1 in Monday’s Associated Press college football poll. Twice-beaten Miami is No. 2, two spots ahead of Brigham Young, which has only one loss and beat the Hurricanes early in the season.
Georgia Tech is No. 3 even though the Yellow Jackets are the only major unbeaten team in the country.
Oregon State Coach Dave Kragthorpe is scheduled to meet with Dutch Baughman, Oregon State athletic director, for a formal job evaluation Wednesday, and Baughman said he plans to make an announcement later that day.
The Beavers finished 1-10, their worst season since 1981.
“Normally I wouldn’t have any problem talking about the evaluation,” Baughman said, “but because there’s so much attention drawn to this situation and there’s so much speculation and so on, I don’t think it would be appropriate to comment on what could be or what might be.”
