Los Angeles police detectives were looking Wednesday for four to six men believed to be responsible for the drive-by shooting death of a 26-year-old Highland Park man.

Alexander Argumedo, whom police described as a gang member, was gunned down near the intersection of Avenue 64 and Garvanza Street at 7:37 p.m. Tuesday, Detective Loren Zimmerman said.

Argumedo was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, where he died from a single gunshot wound.

Zimmerman said Argumedo was hit by one of four to five shots fired from a passing flatbed truck. There were four to six suspects in the truck, but police believe there was only one gunman.

No one else was hit by gunfire.

Police said this incident brought the total of gang-related deaths in the northeast Los Angeles area to 21 for the year.
