Sold!: Former President Richard Nixon sold his seven-bedroom home for $2.4 million to an unnamed Japanese businessman last week, a real estate agent in Saddle River, N.J., said Wednesday. Nixon and his wife, Pat, are moving to a three-bedroom condo in Park Ridge, about a mile from their home in northern New Jersey. They decided the condo would be less expensive to maintain.

Old Theme: A court in Paris ruled Wednesday that the novel “La Bicyclette Bleue” was not plagiarized from Margaret Mitchell’s “Gone With the Wind” because the theme in the 1937 bestseller was not new. French author Regine Deforges will not have to pay the $400,000 sought by the U.S.-based Trust Company Bank, which owns the worldwide rights to Mitchell’s novel. The court said the theme of “a young woman who throws herself at the feet of a man who prefers someone else while she is loved by an older man is completely void of originality.”

Muhammad’s Mission: Former boxing champ Muhammad Ali flew to Iraq to share a Thanksgiving meal with U.S. hostages. Gavrielle Gemma, spokeswoman for the Coalition to Stop U.S. Intervention in the Middle East, said in New York Ali will talk with unspecified Iraqi leaders before meeting the hostages. Ali was not representing the group, which helped him with travel arrangements, Gemma said.
