Colorado and Notre Dame each placed three players on the Football Writers Assn. of America All-American team. The team includes five repeats from 1989 and two quarterbacks--Ty Detmer of Brigham Young and Shawn Moore of the University of Virginia, who tied in the voting. Colorado’s players are offensive guard Garten, an All-American repeat who played at Placentia Valencia High; linebacker Alfred Williams, another repeat, and halfback Eric Bieniemy. Notre Dame was represented by punt and kickoff returner Raghib Ismail, who also made the 1989 squad; nose tackle Chris Zorich, another repeat, and linebacker Michael Stonebreaker.
