Roof Fire Causes $100,000 in Damage
FOUNTAIN VALLEY —
A house sustained extensive damage to its roof Tuesday after sparks from the fireplace flew up the chimney and started the fire.
Damage was estimated at $100,000.
Firefighters were called to the San Andres Street home after a neighbor alerted the home’s owner, Joseph Newberry, that his roof was on fire.
Sparks hit the shingle roofs of two other homes, but no serious damage was reported.
The fire was extinguished within half an hour.
