An Inglewood teen-ager who was shot in the stomach and head during an argument Thursday evening died Friday at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Hawthorne police said.

Martin Guadalupe Enriquez, 18, was a passenger in a car when he became involved in an argument with two youths in another car at Imperial Highway and Truro Avenue about 8 p.m., Hawthorne Police Detective Mike Lee said.

As the argument escalated, Lee said, Enriquez got out of the car. He was shot twice before his assailants drove away. No one else was injured, Lee said.

Hawthorne police later arrested David Perez, 18, of Hawthorne, and Abel Gaeta, 18, of Inglewood. The two youths were being held at the Hawthorne jail, Lee said.

Neither the victim nor the two suspects are known gang members, Lee said. The shooting “started as a verbal confrontation,” Lee said, and “doesn’t appear to be gang-related at this time.”
