Something For Nothing (Charlie’s, 362 California St., Ventura, 648-6688) All original raucous ‘n’ roll music comes to the beach from this energetic Ventura quartet.

* Official Resistance (Club Soda, 317 E. Main St., Ventura, 652-0100) Hard-edged Santa Barbara original rock ‘n’ roll upstairs where the beautiful people hang out.

* Tom Ball & Kenny Sultan (The Grill, 1279 Coast Village Road, Montecito, 969-2261) Acoustic blues as good as it gets from a couple of guys from Santa Barbara.

* Pat, Fin & Greg (Alex’s Cantina, 633 State St., Santa Barbara, 966-0032) These three guys can sing like the Beatles, which certainly is convenient given their Beatlesque repertoire.

FRIDAY

* Brave New World (Charlie’s) Industrial-strength reggae comes to the beach where even the squirrels on the rocks will be skanking.

* The Call, Garden Party (Ventura Theatre, 26 S. Chestnut St. , Ventura, 648-1888) The headliner performs overwrought NorCal rock featuring the one and only Michael Been who gets so into it, you think he’s going to blow up on stage. Garden Party is new music from Santa Barbara.

* The Tearaways (Alex’s Cantina) When Pat, Fin & Greg add a drummer and a keyboard player, they become a powerful pop rock band with harmonies sweeter than the Hershey factory. Also Saturday.

SATURDAY

* The Mudheads (Charlie’s) Great tunes. Great lyrics. Great harmonies. By a great Ventura pop rock band.

SUNDAY

* Bill Coffey & Matt Schulte (Charlie’s) Folk singers deluxe who strum and croon like the Everly Brothers, using absolutely no electricity.

MONDAY

* Mosaic (Charlie’s) More tight folk rock where neatness counts. Coffey & Schulte do the 6 p.m. happy-hour set.

* Mojo Hand (Alexander’s, 1050 Schooner Drive, Ventura, 658-2000) This week’s Blue Monday offering featuring gnarly blues/rock from Thousand Oaks, provided the place survived last week’s Raging Arb & the Redheads show.

* The Go-Go’s, Redd Kross (Ventura Theatre) There are five girls; they’re cute and they’re back doing all their pop rock biggies from the early ‘80s. Redd Kross has been a great power pop band even longer.

* Pat, Fin & Greg (The Grill) Yup, it’s them again--what do you expect? They don’t have day jobs. . . .

TUESDAY

* Four Tomorrow (Charlie’s) More original rock all the way from Ventura.

WEDNESDAY

* Ariel (Charlie’s) Still more original Ventura rock--this band is sort of new wavy, sort of bluesy and very tight.
