CAMARILLO : Man Electrocuted at Construction Site

A 31-year-old Oxnard man was electrocuted at a Camarillo construction site Thursday when a drill draped over his ladder malfunctioned, the Ventura County coroner’s office reported.

Jaime R. Leyva died at Pleasant Valley Hospital about 8:15 a.m., said Deputy Coroner Zelmira Isaac.

Leyva was not using the drill at the time of the accident, but the aluminum ladder permitted the electricity to travel to him, Isaac said.

Leyva was employed by California Employee Management to work on an office building at 900 Avenida Acaso, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Larry Todd said. The company was a subcontractor for National Dry Wall, he said.
