COLLEGE BASKETBALL WOMEN’S ROUNDUP : San Francisco Stops No. 21 USC

Joy Boyenga scored 22 of her 25 points in the second half to lead the University of San Francisco to a 90-77 victory over No. 21 USC on Friday night at San Francisco.

USC (3-2) closed to within 81-77 with 1:26 left, but Lisa Leslie missed a shot and the Trojans were forced to foul. Amy Touli converted three one-and-one situations to help the Lady Dons (3-3) build a 88-77 lead.

Leslie led the Trojans with 25 points and 10 rebounds. The Lady Dons are 3-3.

UCLA 90, St. Mary’s 82--Junior guard Rehema Stephens scored 34 points and had 14 rebounds to lead the Bruins to victory at Pauley Pavilion.

It was the third consecutive game that Stephens has scored 30 or more points and the third consecutive victory for UCLA (3-3).

A jump shot by junior guard DeDe Mosman with 3:28 left gave UCLA a 77-76 lead, which it never relinquished.

St. Mary’s (5-2) was led by Anja Bordt’s 33 points.

CS Long Beach 107, Southern Utah St. 45--Vjera Kaludjerovich had 24 points and Trise Jackson had 23 points, 10 assists and eight steals to lead the No. 11-ranked 49ers in the first round of the CS Long Beach Dial Soap Classic.

Long Beach (3-1) scored the first nine points of the game and led throughout against Southern Utah State, which made 24 of its 44 turnovers in the first half. Long Beach finished with 28 steals.

The 49ers will play Kansas State tonight in the championship game at 8 in the University Gym.

Kansas State advanced to the title game with a 73-65 victory over San Diego State.
