Gulls Get Chevrier

The San Diego Gulls reacquired goaltender Alain Chevrier, on loan from the Detroit Red Wings, General Manager Don Waddell announced Monday.

With the return of Chevrier, the Gulls released goaltender Edward “Scooter” Henson.

In the four games he played with the Gulls from November 23 to Dec 3, when the Redwings recalled him, Chevrier compiled a 3-1 record and a 2.76 goals against average.

Chevrier was placed on waivers Friday by Detriot and cleared waivers over the weekend allowing the Red Wings to send him back to San Diego.

Chevrier will play Wednesday when the Gulls travel to Phoenix.

Greg Norman’s only Southern California PGA Tour competition will be the Tournament of Champions at La Costa Resort Jan 3-6.

In his last three competetions his worst finish was fifth. He was third in 1987, two shots back of winner Mac O’Grady, fourth in 1989, and fifth this year.
