Senior forward Shannon Abrams had a game-high 28 points and 11 rebounds as Point Loma Nazarene defeated Occidental, 100-84. Christy Stevens added 16 for PLNC (6-2), and Deanna Cowles’ only field goal with six seconds left gave the Crusaders their first 100-point game this season. They did it twice last year. Occidental fell to 3-3 in the nonconference game. GOLF

The purse for the Shearson Lehman Brothers Open Feb. 11-17 has been increased to a record $1 million. This marks the sixth consecutive year that the tournament purse has been increased. First-place money this year will be $180,000. Last year’s winner, Dan Forsman, won $162,000.
