From Times Staff and Wire Service Reports

A Huntington Beach woman was killed and her husband was critically injured late last night when an allegedly drunk driver ran through an intersection and struck the car they were in, police said.

Police would not identify the woman, but friends gave her name as Theresa Li of Huntington Beach. Li and her husband, Stanislaus S. Li, 52, were coming home from a company Christmas party in Wilmington when the 11:32 p.m. accident occurred, said Claudia Gonzalez, who works with Stanislaus Li.

Theresa Li was pronounced dead at Pacifica Hospital. Stanislaus Li was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he underwent emergency surgery, Gonzalez said.

The accident at Atlanta Avenue and Huntington Street occurred when Huntington Beach banker Edwin L. Keating, 64, apparently failed to stop as he was passing through Huntington Avenue.

Police Lt. Ed McErlain said Keating was checked at Pacifica Hospital and then turned over to authorities. He was booked into Huntington Beach Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and felony manslaughter. He was released this morning on $10,000 bail.

He faces arraignment Jan. 14, McErlain said.
