See Me Do It Draws No. 1 Post
Defending champion See Me Do It drew the rail, a disadvantage, Thursday for Saturday night’s Champion of Champions quarter horse race at Los Alamitos. The $250,000, 440-yard race is expected to determine the 1990 world champion.
The lineup, from the rail out, with jockeys in parentheses: See Me Do It (Larry Layton), Jazzing Hi (Bruce Pilkenton), Barbs Bounce (G.R. Carter), Sandys Love Bug (Danny Cardoza), Isaws Sugar Bear (John Creager), Heisajoy (James Lackey), Dash for Speed (Kip Didericksen), Tee Roy Reb (Steve Treasure), Apprehend (Henry Garcia), and Wicked Dash (Luke Myles). Isaws Sugar Bear and Apprehend, 3-year-olds, will carry 118 pounds; the others, all 4 or older, 122.
Los Alamitos stewards are not accepting entries from trainer Russell Harris, whose Mighty Dasher tested positive for a prohibited substance after finishing fifth in the 10th race Nov. 8. Harris has requested testing of the second half of the urine sample and stewards said they would set a hearing date after seeing results of that test.
