Fire Causes $650,000 Damage to Apartments

A fire caused $650,000 damage Friday to a three-story apartment building under construction in Studio City before being controlled by 10 fire companies, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said. There were no injuries.
The fire, which began at 2:15 p.m. and burned for about half an hour, caused extensive damage to the 13-unit complex in the 11000 block of Acama Street and briefly threatened two adjacent apartment buildings, fire officials said.
