Alomar-Carter Deal Just a Bad Dream
The Roberto Alomar/Joe Carter trade stinks.
I know the Padres received two quality players in return, but they do not address the team’s weaknesses. People who say this is a blockbuster trade are dreaming.
What bothers me most--beside the fact that the Padres traded away a spectacular young second baseman--is that they further weakened the unity and continuity needed before a baseball team jells. Big Mac is no Trader Jack.
