LYON, France — World chess champion Gary Kasparov put off the 21st game of his title match against challenger Anatoly Karpov from Monday to Wednesday.
Kasparov, who leads the 24-game series 11-9, called his last time out. Karpov will have the advantage of the white pieces and the first move on Wednesday.
With four games left, the Soviet champion needs only one more point--a victory or two draws--to retain the title against his longstanding rival.
He has already won four games, lost two and drawn 14.
