Veteran Rock Deejay Files for Bankruptcy
Michael (Machine Gun) Kelly, a longtime fixture on the Southern California rock radio scene now at KODJ-FM, has filed for bankruptcy protection.
The Dana Point resident has had several film roles, including a priest in “The Enforcer,” one of Clint Eastwood’s “Dirty Harry” movies, a venal deejay in Barbra Streisand’s remake of “A Star Is Born” and an appearance in “The Buddy Holly Story.”
Kelly listed assets of $51,000 (in the form of a $43,000 1991 Jaguar and household furnishings) and debts of nearly $2 million for himself and his Music Street Productions. Kelly cited a recent divorce for his financial difficulties, but said that with his acting career, radio show and his rock band’s forthcoming album, “things are on the way up.”
