MOORPARK : Supervisor-elect to Open Local Office

Share

Ventura County Supervisor-elect Vicky Howard said one of her first official acts after assuming office Jan. 8 will be to open an office in Moorpark so she can meet with residents there on a regular basis.

Howard and Moorpark officials said there has never been a supervisor’s office in the city. Howard, whose 4th District seat includes Simi Valley and Moorpark, said she simply wants to provide Moorpark residents, especially senior citizens and low-income families, greater access to her and her staff.

“I’ve talked to the Chamber of Commerce and they are going to lend me space on a part-time basis,” Howard said. She said she and a staff member will probably be in the office one day a week to meet with residents, beginning in early January.

Moorpark Mayor Paul Lawrason Jr. said Howard’s decision is proof that she has a strong interest in the area and desires a close working relationship with Moorpark residents.

“I couldn’t be happier,” he said. “It will allow the citizens of Moorpark to directly interface with their supervisor. That’s going to be great.”
