Ninth-ranked Duke found a way to stop Oklahoma’s three-point shooting Saturday and in the process stopped the 11th-ranked Sooners’ 51-game home-court winning streak.

Oklahoma made seven three-point shots in the first half--five by Terry Evans--but missed all nine of its tries in the second half when the Blue Devils rallied for a 90-85 victory at Norman.

“The defense of the three-point shot in the second half I thought was the key,” Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski said.

Oklahoma’s last home loss had come against Kansas State in the final regular-season game in 1987. The Sooners (8-2) hadn’t lost to a nonconference opponent since Tulsa beat them in 1982. The streak was the longest in the nation. Arizona also has a 51-game home-court winning streak.

The loss spoiled an outstanding effort by Oklahoma forward Jeff Webster, who scored 32 points. He had 22 of the Sooners’ 35 second-half points.

Evans was held to one basket in the second half. He also committed 11 turnovers. Brent Price, the Sooners’ leading scorer with a 25-point average, scored 11.

“What we were just trying to do was keep them a little bit farther out or make them have to work just a little bit more to get their shots,” Krzyzewski said.

Grant Hill and Christian Laettner each scored 19 points and Bobby Hurley had 13, including 12 in the second half, as Duke (8-2) overcame a five-point halftime deficit.

No. 1 Nevada Las Vegas 101, Florida State 69--The Rebels, who led by as many as 46 points midway through the second half before Coach Jerry Tarkanian cleared his bench, blew the game open with a 21-4 run that extended a 46-30 halftime lead to 67-34.

Richard Lucas’ stuff shot on a rebound cut the lead to 70-68 with 13 seconds left, and the Ducks fouled Todd Day, a 72% free-throw shooter. Day missed the first shot of a one-and-one opportunity with 12 seconds left, but the Razorbacks (9-1) got the rebound. Day was fouled again and made the first foul shot. He missed the second.

Oregon (3-5) got the ball and Terrell Brandon was driving for the final shot when Mayberry stole the ball to seal the victory.
