THE CHUTNEYS AND CHILI SAUCES on sale at the Siri Lanka Curry House in Hollywood really spice up a meal. Among the great Sri Lankan food discoveries available there are mango and apple chutney--both sweet and hot. Apples don’t grow in Sri Lanka, a tropical island located just off the southern tip of India, but co-owner Kusala Siriwardhane needed an alternative for the seasonal mango.

The chutneys are priced at $5.95 each; chili sauces, $4.95. Packed in eight-ounce jars, they make ideal gifts for people with exotic tastes.
