Countywide : HOLIDAY CLOSINGS

Tuesday is Christmas Day, and Jan. 1 is New Year’s Day. The following will be closed on those days in observance of the holidays:

All county, state and federal offices.

County, state and federal courthouses.

City and county libraries.

Banks and savings and loans.

All city offices will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s days. Offices in the following cities will also be closed Monday and Dec. 31: Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Newport Beach and Stanton. The following cities’ offices will be closed Monday, but will be open

Dec. 31: Buena Park, Cypress, Dana Point, Irvine, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Orange, Placentia, San Juan Capistrano and Santa Ana. Offices in Brea, Seal Beach, Tustin and Villa Park will be open only until noon on Monday and Jan. 1. Offices in Fullerton will be closed Monday through Jan. 1.

Schools: All public elementary, junior and high schools will be closed until Jan. 7. Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine, Chapman College and Rancho Santiago Community College will reopen Jan. 2; schools in the Coastline, North Orange County and Saddleback community college

districts will reopen Jan. 7.

Mail: There will be no mail delivery on the holidays. All post offices will be closed Christmas and New Year’s days, and mail deposited in mailboxes on those days will be picked up according to the posted holiday schedule.

Trash: There will be no trash pickup by city or county refuse workers on Christmas and New Year’s days. Trash pickups will be a day late from Tuesday on for both weeks in most cities, with the exceptions of Fullerton and Orange. Residents in those cities with a scheduled Tuesday trash pickup should put their trash out on

Wednesday, and those with Wednesday through Saturday pickups are asked to put out their trash on their regular pickup day.

Buses: Orange County Transit District buses will run on the holiday schedule on Christmas and New Year’s days. Call the district at (714) 636-7433 for information. The bus routes that will be running are 29, 41, 43, 44, 47, 49, 50, 51, 53, 54, 55, 57, 60, 64, 66, 69, 70, 85 and 91. There will be no dial-a-ride or car-pool services available on the holidays.

Parks: All city and county parks and will be open during regular hours.
