All-Star defenseman Paul Cavallini of St. Louis lost the tip of his left index finger when he blocked a shot in a game against the Chicago Blackhawks, the Blues said.

Cavallini, 25, suffered the injury Saturday night when he blocked a shot by defenseman Doug Wilson. The injury was surgically repaired by Dr. David Caplan, and Cavallini is expected to be sidelined about four weeks.
