PRO FOOTBALL REPORT : WEEKDAY UPDATE : RAMS : Robinson Prefers Something on Line

All things considered, Coach John Robinson said he would like it if at least one of the two teams playing Monday night in New Orleans would be seeking a playoff berth.

If the Dallas Cowboys lose to the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, the Saints can gain the final NFC wild-card berth by beating the Rams in the season’s final game.

“I would prefer to have the game have (playoff ramifications),” said Robinson, whose 5-10 Rams were eliminated weeks ago. “I hope they’re fighting for a playoff spot. Not that I hope Dallas loses or anything. . . .”

But Robinson realizes things are bound to be interesting with the game being played on New Year’s Eve in New Orleans, the day before the Sugar Bowl.

“I think when we walk in there . . . it’ll be exciting,” Robinson said. “Well, it might not be if Dallas wins--they could all be drunk . . . It’s the night before the Sugar Bowl . . . “
