GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Brea-Olinda Romps Past Tustin

In case there were arguments over which school has the top girls’ basketball team, top-ranked Brea-Olinda settled them with a 83-53 victory over No. 2 Tustin in the championship of the Costa Mesa tournament.
Jody Anton, who scored 20 points, and Jinelle Williams, who scored 16, were named co-most valuable players. Nicole Erickson scored 20 for Brea-Olinda (12-0).
In other Costa Mesa tournament games:
Costa Mesa 55, Woodbridge 42--Rachel Ward scored 20 points and Olivia DiCamilli 16 for Costa Mesa in the third-place game. Costa Mesa (8-5) was down, 25-22, at halftime but held Woodbridge to 17 points in the second half. Deanna Harry scored 19 points for Woodbridge.
San Clemente 47, North Torrance 45--San Clemente trailed, 43-39, with four minutes left and scored seven consecutive points to take the lead and hold on for the victory. Kristin McOwen scored 16 points and had 11 rebounds and Dana Netherby added 14 points and 14 rebounds for San Clemente.
In the Santiago tournament:
Newport Harbor 54, Corona del Mar 42--Michala Ross scored 18 points and Jenni Hall had 14 to lead Newport Harbor (7-5) to the tournament championship. Heather Flaherty scored 20 points for Corona del Mar.
