PREP ROUNDUP : Cold-Shooting Edison Tops Colder Huntington Beach

Share

When the opposing basketball team shoots 38% from the floor and 50% from the free-throw line, your chances of winning the game should be pretty good, right? Tell that to the Huntington Beach High School girls’ team.

The host Oilers (10-5), ranked seventh in Orange County, shot worse than cold-shooting Edison (11-4), hitting only 29.8% of their shots, and lost to the Chargers, 63-51, Thursday night in the Sunset League opener for both teams.

Edison’s Erika Miller had 21 points and Melanie Iwamasa had 17 points and 15 rebounds.

“I told Melanie before the game it was her night,” said Edison Coach Philip Abraham.
