Landreaux: St. Mary’s President at Fault

Share

Paul Landreaux, who quit Thursday as basketball coach St. Mary’s College after several players complained about him, has accused the school’s president of putting the players up to it.

Landreaux said a school source he wouldn’t identify told him Brother Mel Anderson had center Eric Bamberger poll the players and that “if the players told him they were dissatisfied, just to come back and let him know, and they would go from there.”

Anderson denied talking with Bamberger or any other player.

Landreaux, who coached nine years at El Camino College in Torrance, said he could go back there any time but that he’s already received offers to be an assistant next season from “major, major Division I programs.”
