CS Long Beach Women Prevail, 98-90
Kari Parriott scored 34 points, high for her career, and the Cal State Long Beach women’s basketball team broke a three-game losing streak by beating New Mexico State, 98-90, Sunday at University Gym.
The losing streak was the longest for the 49ers since the 1983-84 season.
Dana Wilkerson added 20 points and freshman forward Kellie Bennett added 18 in her first collegiate start.
Parriott scored 24 points in the first half, many on feeds to finish off fast breaks, to lead the 49ers (6-4) to a 52-49 lead in their Big West Conference opener.
New Mexico State (5-5, 1-1) was led by Andrea Kabwasa’s 22 points and Natasha Johnson’s 19.
