Jackson Plans to Play Against Bills

Raider tailback Bo Jackson, who suffered a strained left hip with 14:18 remaining in the third quarter of Sunday’s 20-10 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals and did not return, said he plans to play in next week’s AFC Championship game against the Bills in Buffalo.

Said Jackson as he was wheeled away on a cart from the Coliseum locker room after the game: “I want a ring.”

Jackson was injured on a twisting tackle by linebacker Kevin Walker after a 34-yard run down the right sideline.

“It’s a hip pointer,” Jackson said. “Yes, I’m going to play next week. Yes.”

Robert Rosenfeld, the Raider team physician, wasn’t as optimistic that Jackson would be able to play. “I don’t know. I really can’t tell. I have to see how he responds to treatment.”

Is it a serious injury?

“No,” Rosenfeld said. “It’s going to get well. I really don’t know what the injury is yet, that’s the trouble.”

Jackson gained 77 yards in six carries.
