Second-seeded Debbie Graham of Stanford won for the 45th time in her past 46 singles matches Sunday, routing No. 3 Trisha Laux of USC, 6-1, 6-2, in the women’s final at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic.

Graham, the 1990 NCAA singles champion from Fountain Valley, did not lose a set in any of her five matches during the tournament.

“I played by far my best match of the tournament,” she said. “It was one of those days where nothing could go wrong.”

Said Laux: “I don’t think I’ve ever played any girl who hits that hard.”

In the men’s final, unseeded Mark Knowles of UCLA completed an impressive run through the tournament with a 7-5, 7-5 victory over top-seeded Conny Falk of Miami at Shadow Mountain Resort.

Knowles rallied after trailing 5-4 in the first and 4-1 in the second.

“I was very tired at the beginning of the match,” said Knowles, who played two singles and two doubles matches Saturday, and then played two sets of doubles Sunday morning.
